Shelia D. Williamson Collins has a PhD in General Psychology, is a Board-Certified National Certified Counselor, a Board-Certified Clinical Mental Health Counselor, and a Licensed Professional Counselor and Supervisor in the states of North Carolina and Illinois. She is a Certified Anger Management Specialist-II, a Certified Dialectical Behavioral Therapist, a Certified Clinical Trauma Professional, Substance Abuse Professional, and Master Addiction Counselor. Dr. Williamson specializes in individual, group, couples, and family therapy. Her theoretical orientations include utilizing Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Trauma/Post-traumatic Stress Disorders, and Person Centered Supervision for individuals seeking full-licensure as Licensed Professional Counselors and Licensed Clinical Addiction Specialists. She maintains a private practice in Rockingham, NC. As Dr. Williamson is fully licensed in the states of North Carolina, Illinois, and Alaska. With over 17 years experience as a licensed clinical mental health counselor, she is currently serving as private practitioner working with a broad spectrum of clients. Among her areas of expertise are crisis counseling, anger management, anxiety/depression/mood disorders, hypnotherapy, grief, and substance use disorders.

In addition to being a prominent mental health therapist, Dr. Williamson Collins has presented at National and State conferences and to general audiences speaking on the topics of the opioid crisis in North Carolina and the conceptions of teen pregnancies among low socioeconomic teenaged African Americans in urban communities.

Dr. Williamson Collins is an interactive, solution-focused therapist. Her therapeutic approach is to provide support and practical feedback to help clients effectively address personal life challenges. She integrates complementary methodologies and techniques to offer a highly personalized approach tailored to each client. With compassion and understanding, she works with each individual to help them build on their strengths and attain the personal growth they are committed to accomplishing.
